Recalling a previous blog post, when your software and servers becomes dated it may be an appropriate time to search for something new and fresh! Also, if you've been using software for years without any upgrades, it may be a good time for you to re-evaluate the need for new software. Seeing as we live in a fast paced world, it's never been more important to stay current.
If you've never gone through the process of implementing software, you may wonder, how can I stack the cards in my favour to ensure a smooth and successful implementation?
The answers are never simple but consider a couple handy tips from the experts on when the 'Best Time' to implement software may be:
- Implement during a slower period of business: This will ensure more time and attention put towards understanding the software and learning how it works. Having less distractions and stress leads to a higher success rate.
- Incremental instalment and training: We're not robots, we're human. Absorbing information and knowledge passed on by implementation consultants is better done in small increments rather than all at once.
- Start small: If you have a number of companies under a parent company to transition onto the new software, remember to start with smaller subsidiaries of the parent company. This way you can learn and iron out issues before moving on to the bigger ones.
- ‘Go Live’ at the beginning of the month: When 'Going Live' with software, it's always a good idea to do so at the beginning of the month so you can avoid bringing in partial entries.
In the end, it comes down to your comfort level. There might not be the perfect time but there sure are optimal periods to implement software over other times.
